Sustainable Fabrics.
Why linen is better for the planet and society.
Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics known to man with sustainability score - 9/10 (Eco friendly).
Linen cultivation emit less greenhouse gases and require less water compared to other conventional natural fibers, which is why linen is considered lower impact material by nature.
Environmental benefits of linen:
- 100% Biodegradable and Recyclable
- Watered entirely by rainfall
- Linen yarn is only one of many products made from the flax crop. This leaves no waste left after harvesting
- Grows without the need of fertilisers or pesticides
- One hectare of flax can take 3.7 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere
- Flax helps to preserve ecological diversity
- Hypoallergenic- as a natural material, organic flax is perfect for allergy prone skin
- Antibacterial- linen absorb moisture without holding bacteria, meaning your clothes won't get smelly and will require less frequent washing
- Breathable - our skin needs air and moisture circulation in order to function properly, and breathable linen fabric supports optimal skin health with is integral to whole body health
- Hygroscopic - linen can absorb up to 20% of it's own weight in moisture while still feeling dry to the touch. When you wear a linen clothing the fabric's fibers are in close contact with your skin. This allows for the perspiration to be absorbed. Then the fibers swell and release the moisture to the outside air. Thus it creates a fabric that has a self-cooling effect because of it's ability to evaporate moisture easily
- Durable - linen is long-lasting, very durable and can last many years. Linen clothing gets better with age and softer every time it gets washed
TRIMS - sew in labels (main labels and garment care labels) on ANNAVEGRO ready-to-wear garments - are recycled thread.
EXCESS FABRICS - leftover materials and fabrics from previous capsules are purposed to create sample shapes and garments for future capsules in development.
